Terms of Service

These terms are the agreement between you and the operator of MeetFolks ("we", "us") for the app at meetfolks.app and the service behind it. By creating an account or taking part in a meeting, you accept them. If you do not accept them, do not use the service.
How we handle personal information is described in the Privacy Notice, which forms part of these terms.
1The service
MeetFolks records in-person meetings on the devices of the people taking part and produces a transcript that shows who said what, with a summary. It is currently free of charge.
2MeetFolks is in alpha
MeetFolks is an early version that is still being tested. Features change often, some will not work as expected, and results may be less accurate than they will be later. Do not rely on it for a meeting you cannot afford to lose a record of. When MeetFolks leaves alpha, these terms will be updated before anything changes for you.
3Recording other people is your responsibility
Before you start a recording, you must have the consent of everyone whose voice may be captured, including people who are not using MeetFolks and people who join later.
Recording laws differ between countries and states, and some require the consent of every person present. Some places and settings do not allow recording at all. You are responsible for knowing and following the rules that apply to you, including any duty to tell people, to stop when asked, or to have a lawful reason to record. We cannot check whether consent was given.
In particular, you agree that you will:
- tell the people around you before a recording starts;
- stop recording, and delete what was recorded, when someone asks you to;
- not record anyone secretly, or anyone who has refused, or anywhere recording is not allowed;
- not submit recordings you did not make yourself or have no right to share.
4Results may be wrong
MeetFolks produces its best estimate of who said what, and it can be wrong. It can credit words to the wrong person, miss speech, or leave speech unattributed, and transcripts and summaries can contain mistakes.
Do not rely on MeetFolks results as an authoritative record. In particular, do not use them on their own as evidence, as a disciplinary or HR record, or as the basis of a legal, medical, financial or employment decision.
5Your account and devices
You are responsible for your account and for what happens through it. Each device is set up for one person, and should record only that person's voice as theirs. Do not set up a device for someone else, pretend a voice belongs to someone it does not, or share your sign-in with anyone. Your voice profile is kept only on your device, so if you lose the device or clear its data, you will need to set it up again.
6Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- break §3 or §5;
- use the service to harass, intimidate, stalk or monitor anyone, or to build a record of someone's speech without their knowledge;
- try to disrupt, overload or get around the protections of the service, or to access meetings or information that are not yours;
- submit fake, automated or manipulated recordings or data, or otherwise try to make the service produce a false result;
- copy, reverse engineer or resell the service;
- use the service in any way that breaks the law that applies to you.
We may suspend or close access if any of this happens.
7Your content
What you record stays yours. You give us only the permission we need to run the service for you: to receive, store and process your recordings and meeting content, including through the service providers listed by type in the Privacy Notice, and to use them to measure and improve the service while it is in alpha. This permission ends when the content is deleted.
We do not sell your content and we do not use it to train AI models. How long we keep it is set out in the Privacy Notice.
8Availability and changes
The service is provided without any commitment to availability. We may change, suspend or stop it, in whole or in part, at any time, and may delete meetings and their results, including for capacity or cost reasons.
You may stop using MeetFolks whenever you like, and ask us to delete your account. We may update these terms by changing this page and the date at the top; if you keep using the service after a change, you accept the updated terms.
9No warranty
The service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy or non-infringement. We do not warrant that results will be correct, that a meeting will be processed, or that data will not be lost.
10Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits, goodwill or opportunity, arising out of your use of the service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to INR 1,000. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
11Indemnity
You agree to indemnify us against claims, losses and reasonable costs arising from your use of the service in breach of these terms, in particular claims brought by someone you recorded without the consent §3 requires.
12Third-party services
The service relies on third-party service providers and software. Their own terms govern their services, and we are not responsible for them.
13Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of India, and you and we submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in India. If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in force. If the consumer law where you live gives you rights that cannot be waived by contract, these terms do not take them away.
